And both Witcher 3 and BotW succeed in that greatly. It's the game's job to ensure that doing these same acts remain fun after hundreds of hours. After significant time is spent with the game, you are hunting down essentially the same content - hidden treasure, side quests, overworld bosses, etc. If we use the most recent benchmark open world game as an example - Witcher 3, it's largely the same. What exactly do you want? An epic cut-scene and full length story around every corner? I don't get it. I am currently 200hrs in and still finding new content. But if we are talking about direct rewards, exploration will often reward you with a Korok Seed, Shrine, weapons, side quest, treasure chests, enemy camp, mini-game, overworld boss, etc. The sense of exploration and discovery alone is satisfying enough. Not everything needs to amount to an actual item or reward. I know i'm in the minority but the more complete look of 30 hearts is king for me and no one can or ever will convince me otherwise.Ĭlick to expand. There are tons of amazing locations and secrets to explore in this game. The health HUD is visible all of the time while the stamina wheel is only visible when stamina is depleted and the loading screen. I've learnt a couple of tricks also during my time with the game for climbing including letting go and quickly starting a climb again (on angled cliff surfaces) to get a bit of extra stamina as well as doing a jump right before Link runs out of stamina to successfully reach the cliff edge. In fact, the only time I have relied on cooked food/elixirs is for a couple of shrine quests & side quests and for the Faron Resurrection tower which was a bit high early on in the game. I almost never cook because the process is a bit too cumbersome for my liking, so i've mostly relied on raw food to get by. In my case, I tend to fight a lot of Silver Lynels with crushers and Moblins with black Royal Guard Claymores in Hyrule Castle, can wipe out 30 hearts in 2-3 hits even with 4 starred Guardian Armor, so I'm totally fine with the added security of 30 hearts over more stamina, especially with Revali's Gale & Climbing Armor set which makes traversing the world even more easier and has largely eliminated any need for further stamina.
